Why provide timelines?

If you've seen the youtube video, you already know this stuff.
If you haven't and don't feel like reading all this,
click the link and save yourself some time and reading.

I have plans to expand and develop my story in great detail, which includes me going back to explain how my characters got to where they are when this, the first installment of this series, begins. I guess you could say that I just can’t keep my mouth shut. I do not intend to give away so much information, as to deem writing the story useless. My plan is to give you, the reader, insight into these characters to help you better understand them while preparing you for what is to come.

In the next few days, I will provide background timelines for the main three characters of my book, and each timeline will end where the book begins. The timelines I provide should serve as an orientation into these characters, if you have not yet read the book, but if you have, then they will just be cool bits of info to know about the characters. Being new at this whole writing thing, I just didn’t think I could find a way to creatively fit all this information into the story without it seeming to drag along; but maybe that’s something I can rectify later on down the road. -Day 20 complete.
